Discovered in 1802.

Named after general Karel -great master - son of the emperor Leopold II., brother of the emperor František II.-I, popular Austrian reformer of army (he shortened the lifetime military service to14 years) - he defeated Napoleon near Aspern and Esslingen, 21 -22 May 1809. He is Marie Terezie ´s grandson, local health resort was renamed to Karlsbrunn after him, in 1803. Great master Vilém ´s father - another new spring - discovered in 1862, was named after him. He is another great master Anton Viktor ´s brother)
