The Petřín tower [ Look-out tower ]

The Petřín tower has for more than a century been a symbol of Prague.
The idea for its building came from members if the Czech Tourist Club who in 1889 visited Paris, and were taken by the newly completed Eiffel tower.
The "Little Eiffel" project was developed and completed in record time - the 60 m high look-out towet, five times smaller than its Parisian model, was opened on August 20th 1891 as part of the Jubilee Exhibition.
The funicular railway up the hill was constructed at the same time.
